Aircraft Renters Insurance – Guide

We require $50,000 hull insurance to be taken out on our aircraft. We require this to be taken through Avemco insurance who have offered our UK and European pilots a first class service over the years.

* Use the USA address of 8515 Dehaviland court, Vero Beach, Florida, 32968. Get a quote for an annual policy and cancel it with more than 6 months to run and you will receive a 50% refund.

Why do I have to get a separate insurance policy to fly your aircraft?

Most rental companies include insurance in the hourly flying rate. This often means you have no idea what you are covered for. This could leave you without medical cover for example if the worse should happen. Also you may be liable to pay them a lump sum in the event of an accident to cover their deductable (excess) and this is sometimes not clearly explained. It is also very challenging to get personal accident insurance in the UK and Europe to cover you to fly aircraft in the USA.

We however do not hide the insurance cost or what is covered by that insurance in our hourly rental rate. We feel  that by you taking out your own policy, you can see everything you are covered for. You are in control of what cover you take out, over and above the mandatory $50,000 hull insurance to cover our aircraft. You choose your medical cover and 3rd party cover. There is no deductable (excess) to pay in the event of an accident. So this really is the best way to protect you and your family whilst flying an aircraft around the USA. Avemco rate sheet.
